Jak and Daxter has changed genre hands frequently. While the original game was a classic platformer, its sequel was a straight up GTA clone, complete with vehicle jacking and a wanted level.

As for Jak and Daxter, the series probably did peak in the first game as far as gameplay went, though the characters and story kept me going to the end. Jak and Daxter was pretty much perfect simple 3D platforming, while everything afterwards was a slightly confused attempt to grow the series up to match the changing face of the gaming market.
